How to turn a perpetual calendar into a countdown to Christmas project. An easy project that the kids could even help with. #MyRepurposedLife #repurposed #Christmas #countdown #calendar #easy via @repurposedlife

Kids love to countdown to Christmas! I have a quick and easy project to share with you today. It may spark your creativity to see what YOU can use to make something similar.

It's time for our Thrift Store Decor day, so be sure to check out all the other great ideas below!

This project is so easy, there are very few steps and pictures.

    Perpetual Calendar

I got a couple of these perpetual calendar sets at a Christmas party last year. I made one of them into a Farmhouse Calendar. As the Christmas holiday approaches, I was thinking it would make a great way to countdown to Christmas!

    Spray Paint Project

I chose some clearance spray paint from my stash. The piece was sanded lightly to make the spray paint adhere a little better.

    spray paint not covering

Yeah, that didn’t work! The boards are MDF and the spray paint was NOT covering the edges at all. So, I switched to a flat white primer instead. The primer covered the house better, but that MDF edge was still not white.

    Plan C | Craft Paint

I was pretty discouraged with the process, so I didn’t take any pictures. Finally, I painted the little countdown to Christmas house with craft paint about 10 PM. Why no pictures? Because it was looking awful. I thought I would have to sand it and start over, but low & behold, the next morning, it looked great!

I chose two transfers from The Junky Chalker Shop to embellish the little house calendar. You could easily use stencils, or even hand paint some designs.

So, up close, you can see the craft paint should have been sanded a little. That’s what I get for crafting without wearing my glasses. I didn’t do anything at all to the number cubes or the Christmas tag. The longer piece had all the months, days, and major holidays.

The pencil holder of the perpetual calendar is perfect for holding candy canes! Had I known that I was going to use candy canes, I probably would have offset the Ho Ho Ho a little. But isn’t that Christmas tree adorable?

I wish the house had a little chimney for Santa (seen sitting up high).

Can you believe we're soooo close to December? We have some cool temps, but I've got another 10 days before I have to winterize the camper. Countdown to Christmas ideas are always so much fun!
