    door repurposed into a bench
I made this last year for my sister-in-law for her to put her dolls on. I love door projects. There are so many things you can do with a door, that I tend "not" to do a project because I can't decide exactly which project to do. I currently have 3 or 4 doors in my inventory, and can't decide what I want to do with them.

I made this from 2 narrow bi-folding doors. I cut the doors apart with the table saw. I didn't really know exactly how it was all going to come together. I had never made anything like this before. I glued and screwed it together with drywall screws.

how to make a bench from a door After this picture was taken, I puttied the holes.

IM000438  I used some small decorative rope trim to cover up the raw edges where I had cut the doors.

Do you have photos of what the door looked like before it was carved into pieces? I ask because the panels that make up the bench are narrower than a regular width door but two of panels, side by side, would be wider than a regular door. What did it look like?

        Christine,

Somewhere in the post I mention that this bench was made from two narrow bi-folding doors. I hope that makes the "before" a little clearer. This was done years ago, and if I have a picture, I would never be able to find it on the computer. 🙂

      Hi Gail...

My friend, this is the most adorable little bench ever! You're such a creative and talented gal! Now...I've seen all kinds of pretty benches, etc...made out of doors but I would have never thought to use a "bi-fold" door! It's perfect for the little doll bench...bet your sister just adores it!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your pretty little bench with us today for Sunday Favorites...I really...really love this idea!!!

      Warmest winter wishes,

Beautiful job on the bench. Tried one for my wife. Turned out very well. I'm now looking for old doors at auctions for winter projects.
      Thanks for your pics!
