Small DIY Easel Project
Transforming ordinary drapery hooks into charming small easels provides a creative and practical way to display items such as business cards, small plaques, or coasters. This simple DIY project requires minimal materials—just drapery hooks and needle-nose pliers. By carefully bending the prongs of the hooks, you can craft functional tabletop easels that elegantly showcase your cherished items.
These small easels, made from repurposed curtain hooks, are easy to make and perfect for displaying small items.

Supplies to Make Small Easels (Mini Stands)

The list of items needed for this DIY is very short. You will need a small needle-nosed pliers set and curtain hooks.

This is our Thrift Store Day. Be sure to check out all the projects below.
How to Repurpose a Curtain or Drapery Hook

First, mark your hooks across so that all of your “bends” will be at the same point. If you don’t have drapery hooks, they are available on Amazon!
Bend Each Drapery Hook Prong

I bend the outer prongs forward and the inner prongs backward.

The prongs I use in the front receive an extra slight bend in an upward position, which helps hold your “pretty” in place.
In this case, the actual “hook” (the part that goes into the drapery rod)was way too big, so I snipped it off.
Coasters Displayed on Drapery Hook Easels

In this picture, I use them to display some adorable coasters my daughter made me for Mother’s Day,
Two-Prong Curly Curtain Hooks

The smaller two-prong drapery hooks are easy to make.

Gently bend the middle to the back, and give it a slight bend with the pliers while spreading the prongs slightly wider.

Then, bend the small, curled ends into a shape that will hold whatever you wish to display.
I love that these already have little curly ends.

I have a CD player that only holds one disc. I use one of these stand-up frames to display the case of the CD that is currently loaded into my player.

The items you can display on these little easels are endless: a favorite greeting card, business cards, a photo, a small plate, and more.

Gail, you are amazing! This is the most ingenious project. Do you have any idea how many itty bitty things I have in closets that can be displayed with one of these tiny easels? I’m about to add something to every flat space in the house! Not to mention how many of these drapery pins I have scattered around my garage. Pinned!
Yay Suzanne!!!!
I’m so happy you found this useful. I feel the same way. The mini drapery hook easels are so versatile!
thanks for pinning!

I have hundreds of these things and never thought to use them this way. Am so pleased as I have lots of miniature plates that I currently have blue tacked to the wall. Now I can display them properly.
Sue,
I’m soooo happy to help you out. Lucky you to already have them on hand. 🙂
Have fun, creating tiny easels for your miniature plates.
