A red headboard coat rack is perfect for every day, and can even be used at Christmas to hold the family stockings. Easy Repurpose! #MyRepurposedLife #repurposed #headboard #coatrack #stocking #holder via @repurposedlife

I love a great repurposed headboard project. I first showed you how I painted this small foot board in one of my contributor posts for Homeright titled Maintaining Your Finish Max. Today, it's a red headboard coat rack!

I first painted it black, which is really the key to getting a great coat of red. You can see that I used a really bright red over the black, but look at the fabulous color I got! I love a deep glazed red, my favorite being the repurposed piano front I have in my kitchen.

I used a cheap chip brush doing a light coat with a dry brush effect.

    Add Hooks

d-lawless-hardware-hooksI recently ordered a LOT of hooks from D Lawless Hardware because they have great prices and I have a LOT of headboards.

red-headboard-coat-rack-2I love the way these hooks look on the red bed.

glendale-2014-4Here you can see it on display at Glendale. It actually sold pretty quickly.

There are some questions how I hang these on the wall . . .

    D Rings for Hanging

I use these d rings to hang all of my coat racks.

I sure wish I had a need for one of these, I really like them quite a bit.

        Judi,

Thanks for your question. Somehow I missed Fonda's question asking the same thing. You can see how I hang all my coat racks here: https://www.myrepurposedlife.com/distressed-chalkboard-headboard-coat-rack/

I'm editing this post to reflect how I do it.
