    Using a Kreg Jig Jr.

I have wanted one of these for a long, long time. I thought I couldn’t afford one, however I sold some projects earlier this summer and treated myself to this splurge. I put the receipt with it and tucked it in the cabinet in the garage. (In case I decided that it wasn’t for me after all). One reason it sat was because of the heat this summer. Another reason was I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to learn how to use it. WRONG! It is so easy, and I am so glad I finally got to use it.
    Kreg Jig
It has a couple of adjustments you need to make before you clamp it. The Kreg Jig needs to be set for the thickness of your wood. It is very easy to adjust. Those little gray pieces on the side slide backward and forward.

In this close-up you can see the little gray things. (I’m sure they have a name)  You can see that I have it laying on the 1x that I am preparing to drill into. I have the 1x and the jig clamped onto my work surface. I like to use quick clamps for these kind of jobs.
I didn’t take a picture of the drill bit, so I snagged this picture from the Kreg site. There is a little collar on the drill bit, can you see it? It is adjustable. You lay the drill bit in the Kreg case, and adjust the collar for the thickness of your wood. Easy peasy!

Then you simply drill into those two holes right there. The collar on the drill bit stops you from going too far.
Look how pretty these pocket holes are!
I clamped the two pieces together and screwed in the Kreg screws.

Here ya have it! The front facing for my corner cupboard!

Oh, and shelves! Perfect! No more cleats, or screwing in through the back of the cabinet (hoping) to hit the shelf without splitting it. In this picture you can see that the pocket hole screws have a square head. My Kreg Jig Jr came with an extra long bit to accommodate the pocket holes. You can see it up there in the Kreg Jig Jr kit picture.

Look at this front facing! Oh my gosh! I was so pleased with this tool the very first time I used it. It came with several types of screws. As soon as I could I went and bought more screws, just to have on hand. Did you miss  this corner cupboard tutorial?

I watched some videos on YouTube before I actually used my jig. I wanted to make sure I understood how it worked.
I suggest you put this tool on your wish list. I’m wondering why I waited so long.
Disclaimer: I did not receive any compensation, monetary or otherwise from the Kreg company. IF they would like to offer me a product to review, I certainly would jump on it! Your results may vary. I recommend this tool to my readers.

This looks like a handy little tool. I think it's something that will be going on my list to get. Along with a router!

Okay you just convinced me to buy one now. It is endless what you can do with that little thing. I have watched all the videos from their site and I still couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to take the plunge and pay the money for the big one, but you have now convinced me to go small. Gail did you find it at a store or order from internet. I can't find them here but I may be able to find in the states.

      Thanks.
