It doesn't get any easier than painting a wicker basket with a paint sprayer. It's the best way to get complete coverage. This double handed basket is perfect for picnics! #MyRepurposedLife #thriftstore #wicker #basket #makeover #paint #project via @repurposedlife

I’m sharing an awesome painted wicker basket with you today! Why? Because It’s Thrift Store Decor Time! I love the second Wednesday of the month, and so do y’all! It’s always one of my most popular projects of the month. I hope you love this project as much as I do.

Don’t forget to check out the other projects below!

    Thrift Store Wicker Basket Makeover

    thrift store basket

I started with this plain ole wicker basket. It was only a few bucks at one of my local junk malls. The basket sort of reminded me of a lidless picnic basket which gave me a GREAT idea to repurpose it.

It’s perfect to use in the camper! I can gather all of my outdoor picnic supplies and only make one trip to set the table. Don’t you love the color?

How to paint a wicker basket with a paint sprayer

paint wicker basket with dixie belle paint and a super finish max

Who would want to paint this wicker basket by hand? Not me! To paint this basket, I used my favorite Super Finish Max HVLP Paint sprayer.

Begin painting wicker basket upside down

start painting wicker basket while upside down

I prefer to paint my projects upside down first. Why? Because if something gets messed up, it’s most likely to be the bottom that will most likely not be seen.

Think North South East & West

painted wicker basket with paint sprayer

When painting a wicker basket, you need to paint from the bottom, top, left and right. It’s very difficult to get good coverage while painting wicker. Spray paint is always an option, but I love using latex wall paint in my paint sprayer to get colors that match other accessories.

    Seal painted wicker basket

suspend painted wicker basket in order to seal the paint

By suspending the basket by the handles, I was able to use a Spray Sealer on all sides. I’m sure the paint would have cured to a tough finish, but I was impatient to get it finished!

The gray basket is perfect to gather and transport all of my picnic supplies as I head out to the picnic table by the grill.

I’d love for you to pin it before you head off to check out these other great projects!

Isn't it amazing what a little paint can do to an old basket? Love your party supply color theme, too. Perfect for summer! Thanks for sharing at Tuesday Turn About!

I know this is all about that super cute basket, but I noticed your cool vintage Tupperware salt and pepper shakers! How cute that they match your camper!

oops! fooled your eyes Pam! Those salt and pepper shakers are brand new from my local Meijer. They have small paw prints on them. (not visible in the picture)
I was drawn to them for both the paw prints AND because they reminded me of my old Tupperware shakers. 😉
