How to make a large sign for your master bedroom out of an old bed. Always Kiss Me Goodnight is the perfect sentiment for this space. #MyRepurposedLife #repurposed #bed #diy #sign #alwayskissmegoodnight via @repurposedlife

So, today I'm sharing this awesome Always Kiss Me Goodnight sign, perfect for your master bedroom!

Last fall, I made the Twins  (window cabinets) for Missy’s mom Mary. Mary was sweet enough to send me some extra goodies!
    100_8227

First up, we have some bed parts-legs and spindles.

100_8229Next, we have a headboard and a foot board that was also generously included in the stash.

This is the foot board. I cut off the little “tab” pieces that formerly fit into the bed posts.

    Paint Old Bed Pieces

I used my Harbor Freight paint sprayer to prime several pieces at once. Check out my new favorite sprayer on my Favorite Products Page.

I then used the sprayer to paint several pieces black.

Design Always Kiss Me Goodnight Vinyl Phrase

vinyl | Always Kiss Me Goodnight
I posted on Facebook asking for suggestions for a sign. Gayla suggested “Always Kiss Me Goodnight”. I have loved that phrase for a long time, so I designed it in my Silhouette program. I used the font Adorable. Available for free download at Dafont.com

Master Bedroom Sign | Always Kiss Me Goodnight

always kiss me goodnight | Easy DIY Sign And voila! Here it is! I think this would look fabulous over a bed. Not mine of course, since the only one that kisses me goodnight is this little guy . . .

    . . . . and he can’t read!

Easy DIY Sign for Over The Bed

always kiss me goodnight for master bedroom
I love my Silhouette, but it sure is a challenge for me to figure out which phrase I want to use, AND which font to use! I really like the way this one turned out, but I’m sure had I chosen another one I would have loved it too. Smile

Do you have someone to “Always Kiss YOU Goodnight?”

Would you like to see what I made with the matching headboard?

This is a full sized foot board, so subracting the bed posts, I'm guessing the sign is approximately 49" in width.

Gail I am new to dafont and I am not sure how to find the one you are speaking of here. Also, once I download it how exactly did you get it onto the sign???

Dafont.com has a search option near the top right.

As you click to download it, pay attention to where it saves on your computer. I save mine to "downloads". After it downloads, click to open the file, and select "extract all"
After the file extracts, there will be a little window showing the font, with an "install" button. After you install the new font, it will be available in all of your programs that use fonts. If you're using a silhouette machine, you will have to open the program AFTER the font is installed on your computer for the program to find the font.
If you have any questions, just let me know.

Sweet Gail! You need to find a local shop and sell these. My friend owns a wedidng store in LA and this would sell like hot cakes!

That turned out great! The shape is so cute for a sign, and the font you used looks really pretty on it, like it just fits.

Yup. I have someone to kiss me goodnight. If he can even stay awake that long!

I love this saying too! The kids now have a age (again), where they don't mind anymore to give their Mom a goodnight kiss. Hubby never seemed to mind... ;o)

I love this saying too! Question: did you print the wording on vinyl? Does it go through your printer and you cut it out or are you using a cridut machine? I have seen vinyl rolls but unsure how to use them. If you hand painted it you did an awesome job!

I love it! I've always loved that little quote too - but the boys around here at that age when then would not allow it! You did a beautiful job with yours. I have a Silhouette and love it... just haven't used it much. Guess I'm waiting for the walls to get painted. Have made some great gifts out of old windows with it.

That looks like a good gift for the newlyweds, my friend!
I purchased a vinyl of this saying, cut the words apart and applied it to the risers of my 2nd floor stairway, starting a few steps from the bottom and working up. Since Mike and I are the only ones that ever go upstairs to the bedroom it felt like the right place to put it.
Mike was tickled pink with it, now he always chuckles when he goes up the stairs. 😉
