Cutting a table in half

Have you ever heard of cutting a table in half? It’s a fun and unique way to change up a small side table, or even a coffee table.

This little side table was a curb find. I wanted to cut it in half to make two tables for beside my bed. I used a jigsaw to cut it. You could easily use a table saw or a circular saw. But, because this was my first attempt at cutting a table in half, I went with a jigsaw.

Look at this pitiful spot! It is/WAS my bedroom. This spot had been without baseboard for years. So sad! Oh, but the bedroom is oh so much prettier now with new paint, closet, and laminate flooring.

After I painted my bedroom and added some new baseboard, I took pictures of the two little tables so I could list them on Craig’s List.
I sold them right away. A lady bought them for her daughter’s “shabby” bedroom.
I used a scrap piece of wood for a cleat to stabilize the table to the wall. Not brain surgery, but I really liked the way the tables looked. This is when I first started painting projects black. I have since figured out that I don’t like to dust black furniture! I’d rather be working in the shop, not dusting!
You can also cut tables in half and stack them! Use 1/2 of a coffee table to make a hall table.

Another fabulous idea. I can just imagine that little girls shabby chic room with those two tables in it!
fabulous, as usual!!! i might just go around cutting everything in half now! except dessert of course.

wow gail! now I know why my mom follows/loves your blog 🙂 what an amazing transformation! I look forward to see what other great ideas you share! oh, and thank you following my blog 🙂 I really appreciate it!
LOVE these tables, Gail! They are so cute! 🙂 I too recently found that I HATE dark furniture for the same reason! At least when I can’t SEE the dust I can just ignore it. 🙂
Cute tables… I love that idea… I have small bedroom too and those would work perfectly. Thanks for sharing them.
I know what you mean about the black… hence no black furniture in my house…lol. I use it for accessories and shelves…the trick to black shelves is to hang them above eye level… if you can’t see dust it isn’t there, right? It works for me…lol
Have a great day Gail.
Hugs, Deb

Neato!!
They did come out cute, and you know I still love the black. Could be because I don’t do my own dusting, right?
Mmm, blog tips, let me think on that, there are so many I need to know!
haha — Gail, truly only YOU could make this work so perfectly. Ingenious. I love it!
Great idea!! Love the final pictures!!!
