I painted hinges for my kitchen cabinets!

I guess you  may remember the great deal I got on the knobs for my kitchen cabinets?

The knobs (and handles) were on clearance, but there were no hinges.

spray painted hinges

The old hinges were definitely not going to work with my new white cabinets.

First, I sprayed them with my cheapo primer.

Then I pulled out the not so cheap spray paint.

Meanwhile a couple of weeks pass, I start putting all of the doors back on and I am short TWO hinges!

Guess where I found them? Ohhh, it was my lucky day.

Here are the two hinges in question!

Some more of this . . .

painted hinges
Tada! They are not a perfect match to the knobs, but if I didn’t point it out, you’d never know.

In this picture you can see that I did not paint the entire hinge. I only painted the part that would be seen on the outside of the door.

white kitchen cabinets and more
And, because I can’t show enough pictures of my wonderful kitchen, here’s one more! What? You missed the kitchen makeover?

I painted the oak cabinets

I painted the vinyl floor

I painted the laminate countertops

I even painted the ceiling fan!

I need to take some pics of the repurposed desk island in the new kitchen. We’ve had gloomy weather with absolutely NO natural light.

I still have not made up my mind about the backsplash. It’s a matter of budget mostly.
They are 14 different colors. The top of the tub only has the name of the color. I decided to make a little dot on the top so I could easily identify the colors.
spilled paint
While shaking up one of the tubs, it slipped out of my hand. You can see on the right where I started wiping it up. BUT, then, just for you, I stopped and grabbed my camera! Looking at the “splat” what do you see? You know, like the book It Looked Like Spilt Milk.  Wanna know what I see? On the left I see a big ole muscle, then an arm, and on the right a hand. Know whose arm I see? Do YOU see it? Popeye!
So anyway, it was quite a chore to clean up and keep the critters out of it while I was doing it. The splat is right in front of the kitchen sink. The island is only a few feet from the sink. I was very lucky that it didn’t really splash on the cabinet doors or the end of the island. Whew!
I saved a ton of money not buying hinges! What have you salvaged lately with paint? Have you had an oops lately? Please tell me I’m not alone. Last time it happened to me was on the driveway while I was making over my bedroom.
