I have partnered with Carpet One Floor & Home® to sponsor this post, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Making changes around your home is sort of like a domino effect. It reminds me of the little boy in the old cartoon . You know, the one where his movements are tracked with the dotted line. Last Fall it started with wanting to change out the kitchen floor. As I worked on the rest of the house, the bedroom just waited for it’s turn. I hadn’t made many changes in a long time. Bedroom updates were long overdue. The large Master Closet should have been enough to get me in gear on this bedroom makeover, but it wasn’t.
Then I was contacted by Carpet One Floor & Home® about their Tigressá Cherish carpeting. I headed to my local store that offers the benefits of international buying power and independent ownership. Being able to shop local without sacrificing value or selection is a huge bonus.
I picked out the softest carpet I’ve ever felt—Tigressá® Cherish “Go All Out II” The color is Grill, which is a great blend of pretty neutral colors. Carpet One Floor & Home has The Beautiful Guarantee® which will give you peace of mind. They strive to ensure that the floor you’ve created together, is as beautiful as the one in your dreams. If not, they’ll replace it for free.
The new rugs (Tigressa Carpet that was bound) were just the nudge I needed to make those small overdue updates. If you do DIY, you may be like me that you easily take care of the larger things, but the smaller tweaks get pushed aside. After putting down the new floor and building the closet there were many smaller tasks that didn’t get done. Not to mention other updates that should have been done years ago.
I’ll get right to the pretty pictures and tell you about the updates as we go along.
ohh, did I say pretty pictures? They're coming . . . . Last fall I updated the trim in the hallway and the inside of the guest room. I had put off updating the door trim on the inside of the master bedroom. As I said, it’s like a domino effect. I needed to replace the vent to the right of the door. That couldn’t be done until I put down the new baseboard between the door and the vent. I couldn’t put down the baseboard until I did the door trim! Of course all of that needed to be done before I put down the new rugs! Look at that mess!
Here’s a picture of the left side of master bedroom. The room is long because it was originally two bedrooms. As I was taking the pictures—looking around I saw so many projects that have been on the blog. More on that at the end of this post.
I really do love the new color on the walls. Did you know blue is my favorite color?
Soft and Pretty Tigressá® Cherish Rugs
This shows the other half of the room. The inset image shows a good representation (close-up) of the rug. Saying these rugs are soft is an understatement! Tigressá® Cherish is extremely soft but still has the strength found in all Tigressá products.
New Faux Wood Blinds
Every time I crawl out of the bed I feel warm and fuzzy as soon as my feet hit the floor and feel the softness of my new rugs. And each time I walk into my new master bedroom I smile because it really is the soothing oasis it should be. I have color changing light bulbs that are controlled by AI. It’s great to be able to use a voice command to turn on a light as I go to bed. I installed new faux wood blinds and naked lamp shade lights. I know they’re not for everyone, but I’ve always loved the look.
If you remember, I had to take the blades off the ceiling fan when the new closet was put in. I felt like most people would put in chandeliers of some shabby chicness, but I’m not really a chandy kind of gal. The naked shades are basically pendant lights, so there are lots of possibilities for change down the road.
New Paint on the Walls
I don’t think my Miss Lulu Mae cares one way or another about the new changes, but she LOVES the new rugs. She has this little happy dance she does whenever she experiences new carpet or rugs. I love the look of the new rugs on the dark floor and the blue walls with the white trim, closet doors and décor. You would think having three windows in this room that I would get lots of natural light. I do get some, but the huge trees in the side yard keep out most of the light (and heat).
New Door Trim | Bedroom Makeover
This is a good shot of the door trim. I painted both sides of the door while I was doing the trim updates. It appears that the closet doesn’t open because of the chest, but is fine. On that end of the closet is where I keep my least used (dress) clothes. hehehe
I moved all my most used clothes to the middle section of the closet. Getting dressed with the new softer than soft Tigressá® Cherish rug under my feet is fabulous!
Naked Lamp Shade Pendant Lights
There are many studies that show people who make their beds are happier and more successful. I have to admit I NEVER make my bed with a bedspread. I do straighten it every day when I get up so that it is neat and tidy when I retire. Maybe I’ll change that now since I’m so in love with my new master bedroom!
Pin It for Later

It makes me smile. It's so cozy with the new rugs and the "mood" lighting. hahaha

Love the rugs they do go so well with the flooring. I'm making a chest for my art room like your black one. I was going to refinish it and continue using it, but the surface area is just so small, and how do you put a vice on it, or a pasta extruded for polymer clay. So I'm replacing it with 2 short filing cabinets and a 7' by 32" solid core door on top. And I've put up a white faux wood blind so the sheer curtains that only catch dirt. As soon as I squirrel away enough money for enough engineered hard wood flooring for all 3 bedrooms, I'll get rid of thecarpet and put it down

I love the flooring. I took the carpet up and left the original hardwood floors for years. But I like the look of the dark floors so much better than the orange original floors. As I type this I'm looking at it in the living room and it still makes me smile.
The filing cabinet hack with a door is great!

Absolutely love the colors š The door trim really made a huge difference! š

Thank you so much Christina. Of the three doorways inside and out, I only have the inside of the bathroom to finish. Maybe I'll do it in the heat of the summer when it's too hot to do projects outside. š

You have done a lot in your house to make it your own. I have those wide blinds in almost every window in my house. I find if you hang some curtains each side (I donāt close mine) it really softens the look of the room. I just put some curtains in my bedroom which has a two windows behind the bed and it really makes a big difference. I would like one of those carpets in there, would be nice on cold winter nights and mornings!

Julie,
I've never been a fan of curtains. I think because it's just one more decor decision to make. š But I agree that it would soften the room. The very left window by the closet butts right up against the closet door.... š
You would love this carpet. It's soooo soft!
