Recently I decided to get busy on some long lost projects and get them ready to sell. Today’s project is all about repurposing an old kitchen drawer into  a small shelf.

Be sure to scroll to the bottom to see more fun repurposed drawer ideas from My Repurposed Life.

using a drawer as the support

I had several of these drawers in storage. One of which I used years ago to make the DIY Child’s Kitchen Center . Sometime in the recent months, I dug one of these black drawers out and gave it a fresh coat of DIY chalky paint primer, and a top coat. Then it went back into storage for a long time.

As I said, I was tying up some lose ends recently so I got this little drawer out and cleaned it up a little.

    Glazing drawer shelf

I wanted to kitchen drawer / small shelf to have an older look to it. This Rust-Oleum smoked glaze was perfect for the job! I applied the glaze and wiped it off with a small rag. The best thing about this glaze? It seals and protects the chalk paint—in this case a diy chalky paint primer made with Plaster of Paris.
