Your favorite Repurposed and DIY projects from 2020.
Well, I'm not sure when I was so happy to welcome in a new year! 2020 at My Repurposed Life has been a challenge for sure. I've done everything I can to stay positive, and busy. I'll admit, when the Pandemic first hit, I really didn't expect to still be around to see in the new year.
I did my best to hide out in campgrounds when they opened back up, and I have to say I enjoyed myself. But, I AM looking forward to 2021, and plan to make it my best year in a long time. I'm hoping to get a better work life balance and share some awesome new projects with you.
Is there something you'd like to see more of? I'm always open to suggestions!
One quick side note--my computer has crashed. Yep a couple of weeks ago, so it's going to be a challenge over the next month as I try to get that worked out. Hoping to salvage my hard drive.
For now, let's look back on this past year. The top posts of 2020 from My Repurposed Life are a great balance of repurposed projects and collections of projects. It's really fun to put together collections of similar projects, and apparently they are quite popular!
Top Posts of 2020
We'll start with #10. Although these Succulent Planters from Rotted Tree Trunks was originally posted in 2016, they're still going strong on Pinterest.
Speaking of pinterest, if you see something you would like to save or share, simply click on the picture and your pinterest account will take care of the rest. 🙂
DIY Home Reno
This Between the Studs Broom Closet for my bathroom came in at #9. I know, I'm an upcycle repurpose site, but I do still need to do home repairs and modifications. So, when I do, I document it so I can share it with YOU!
Reclaimed & Repurposed
Coming in at #8 is a fabulous Christmas Tree Stand Box / Folds Flat for Storage project. This gained a lot of traction in the last few months. Maybe you can put it on your Christmas in July list and make one next summer??
Cabinet Doors Repurposed DIY
You know I love Easy Cabinet Door Projects! At one time I had a huge stash of cabinet doors. That stack is dwindling, but I'm always looking for new ideas to repurpose cabinet doors.
That brings us to the 6th most popular post--a Folding Pallet Bar. I'm always amazed how popular my older content is over the years. It just goes to show that My Repurposed Life is still relevant through the years.
Easy Reclaimed Wood Benches
wow! These Simple Benches Made from 2x4's go way back to the old days. But they still make me smile when I see the photos that remind me of fun times in Nashville helping my daughter Jamie build a new deck!
Repurposed Headboards as DIY Benches
We're now at #4, 50 Headboard Bench Ideas. Although many of these projects are from My Repurposed Life, there are also a lot of headboard benches from my friends. Let's just say, I've never met a bed I didn't want to turn into a headboard bench! That little blue one in the snow? It's still one of my very favorite styles. I should do something similar in the new year.
Repurposed & Refurbished Dressers
Another collection comes in at #3. What Repurposed Furniture/Old Dresser Ideas was your favorite? It's so much fun to see a piece of furniture online, and say to myself "I can make that out of an old dresser".
Pallets Projects & More
Do you love Pallet Projects as much as I do? In my post Pallet Projects and Tips for Dismantling Pallets you will see great ideas from diy bloggers who really know their stuff! I stayed away from pallet projects for years, until I realized I could actually salvage them without killing myself!
Reclaimed & Repurposed Window Projects
Drumroll please!! The most popular post of 2020 was this huge collection of Window Projects. Every single day, this collect from My Repurposed Life and friends is in the top 3 landing pages. So many windows, so little time. I have a great number of windows just waiting for their next life as something new.
Top Projects From 2020
Now, let's take a look at the most popular repurposed projects from 2020! There's a little something for everyone.
Again, we will start with #10 and work our way down.
Repurposed DIY Drawer
Using drawers for new projects is a lot of fun! Some are very easy like this Repurposed Drawer Jewelry Organizer. Be sure to check out the other drawer project below.
Lamp Base Pedestal Plate
Sometimes, items hang around the shop a long time before they get their time to shine! This Lamp Base into Pedestal Plate used pieces that had collected a lot of (saw) dust over the years.
Repurposed DIY Headboard Bench
For the 8th most popular project, we have this beautiful Spool Bed Bench. It's a lot like one of my earliest headboard benches I made with my friend Cathy when My Repurposed Life was just beginning.
Easy DIY Table Makeover
My favorite week of the month is the second Wednesday--that's when I participate in our Thrift Store Decor Share. This TV Tray Table Makeover was one of those projects. I use it on all my camping trips.
Antique Dresser Makeover
At the beginning of last year, I tackled this Antique Chest of Drawers Makeover. It was the 6th most popular project from My Repurposed Life in 2020.
DIY Farmhouse Shutters
Here's another diy project that was needed in real life. These Simple Wooden Farmhouse Shutters are dressing up The Sugar Shack where my projects wait to be rehomed.
Thrift Store Decor Project
I believe this Decoupage Sewing Drawer was another Thrift Store Decor project. I used these napkins on several decoupage projects over the last couple of years.
This Repurposed Drawers Wall Cabinet is an example of me seeing a piece in a magazine, and realizing I could replicate it using TWO drawers.
Repurposed OR Refurbished?
Sometimes furniture just lands on my doorstep. Free is the BEST kind of Dresser Makeover. My niece Missy fell in love with the finished piece and now it resides in her bedroom.
Repurposed DIY Table into Two Projects
Okay! It's time for the most popular project from My Repurposed Life in 2020. I got this huge coffee table from Cousin Terry, and decided to turn it into two projects! Although I call it a DIY TV Stand from a Coffee Table, these projects really are very versatile! TV stand, kid's bench and storage chest, or even a bench for the end of the bed. Maybe that's why it was the most popular???
Remember when I said my computer died? I'm clicking away on a MacBookPro, very challenging to say the least. I keep reaching for my PC keys to copy and paste. The Chrome browser needs to be updated, but isn't supported by this version of apple.
Did your favorite projects/posts from My Repurposed Life make the cut for 2020? Many projects from 2019 and 2018 are still in the running. Maybe they will make the cut for 2021's top posts. I can't wait to share more great ideas with you next year, in between camping trips!
What I did notice is that my Crafty Friday projects aren't represented very well. Are you still enjoying those easier weekly craft projects?
Inquiring minds want to know. Perhaps I'll put out a poll next month so I stay on track of the things YOU like the best!
Happy New Year to us all! May it be our best yet!

TV tray makeover and the Christmas treegieldromwva box!
Gail Wilson
I love both of those projects Nova!
The tray table was from 2020, but the Christmas tree box was from a couple of years ago. It's crazy how popular my old stuff still is!!
Happy New Year friend!

My favorite is the broom and mop closet. Itās amazing what a 4 and 1 year old grandsons can track in. Husband said what are you going to do with the electrical in that wall. I said you come up with the best ideas. A plug in would allow me to put the rechargeable stick vac in there too. His answer theyāre all right in the garage.

hahaha sounds like the hubs is trying to avoid some DIY š
There wasn't any electric running in that wall. It's a great use of wasted space, that's for sure!!
